What inspired you to begin your lifestyle transformation?

I was tired of feeling sluggish, wanted to get off the couch, moving and wanted to join my wife in exercise.

How did Inspire Fitness help you achieve your goal and how have the results affected your life?

I knew a better quality of life was out there. Joining the Inspire team has given me the tools to achieve that better life. Brian and Cathie explain how a combination of healthy nutrition through grocery store shopping, exercise and consistency are crucial to the lifestyle change that I currently live. My wife, Jill, is also a member so we are able to plan meals and workout together.

My general quality of life, 24/7 has improved greatly. There is no more time wasted waiting for my mind and body to “recover” and “heal” from over indulging. From a health standpoint, my latest tests have showed my cholesterol numbers have decreased. I now live a more energetic and positive life. Not to mention all the friends I have made during class and attending the nutrition meetings.

Describe Inspire Fitness in one word.

Life changing (is that one word?) If not, here is another one …. AWESOME!

What inspired you to begin your lifestyle transformation?

I had always been active, and was running 30 miles a week, but something was missing. I was stuck and couldn’t get the scale to move. I knew I needed to make a few changes and since I was off for the summer I thought I would give Inspire Fitness a try.

How did Inspire Fitness help you achieve your goal and how have the results affected your life?

It finally clicked …. as Brian can attest to, I could be the poster child for the quote that Inspire has on their wall “You Will Never Out Train A Bad Diet.” I was attending boot camp three days a week regularly and running, but never really thought I needed to adjust my nutrition. I rationalized that I was exercising enough so whatever I ate would not affect me. Why would I need to cut out the red wine? It was healthy , right? Or the dark chocolate covered pretzels? Dark chocolate is also healthy and pretzels, how bad could they be??? I ate fruit, vegetables and lean meats so those little indulgences were OK. After months of minimal progress, I knew change was needed. I entered my first weight loss contest with my partner and my competitiveness kicked in. I wanted to win, not just for the financial gain, but to prove I could lose the weight. I started attending the weekly nutrition meetings and put into practice the nutritional advice from Brian and Cathie along with my continued attendance at boot camp. That was it…nutrition! I found what I need to do to shed those excess pounds. By opening myself up and listening, I put into practice suggestions from Brian and Cathie about how to properly feed my body. I incorporated these changes slowly and they are now part of my life.

This four month journey has been an awakening for me. I have made substantive changes that have resulted not only in a change to my physical appearance, but have had positive effects to my mental and emotional health as well. Physically I feel stronger and have more energy, all while whittling down in size! I am still working towards my goal; knowing that I have come this far makes reaching my goal achievable!

Describe Inspire Fitness in one word.

Transforming!

It is so mind blowing in a world that looks for every competitive edge possible that 98% of Americans do not use the most powerful edge of all, nutrition. Our mind and body are our vehicle for success and we continue to fill it at the pump daily with processed gas (food). So what are we going to do? Well, the obesity rates in America are increasing at an all-time high daily, but there is one thing you can do today.

SIX POWERFUL REASONS WHY OMEGA-3 WILL IMPROVE YOUR OVERALL HEALTH AND MIND!

Weight Loss A study in 2010 published by the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition found that fish oil supplementation increases lean mass and reduces fat mass.

Improve Brain Health The human brain consists of 60% fats, which half of it is DHA omega-3. Lack of DHA is linked to depression, ADD, ADHD, anxiety, moods and Alzheimer’s. Adding omega 3’s daily to your nutrition will also improve your memory and focus.

Reduce Inflammation Omega-3’s deliver high anti-inflammatory assets to your body. The average American diet consists of anywhere between 15 to 25 times more omega-6 than omega-3. Omega-6 increases inflammation in our bodies while omega-3 reduces inflammation. You can see why it is important to take an omega-3 supplement daily as this will balance out your levels.

Protect The Heart Omega-3 is rich in DHA and EPA and studies show it has prevented strokes.

Improve Cholesterol Simply taking an Omega-3 supplement daily will decrease your LDL (bad cholesterol) and increase your HDL (good cholesterol).

Empower your kids Studies have shown that Omega-3’s has increased the energy and nutrients in your child’s body to enhance better physical and mental growth. It also creates a foundation for building the brain, developing the nervous system and increased attention spans.

Adding Omega-3’s to your daily morning habits will create a vibrant, happy, healthy, and nutritious family!

What inspired you to begin your lifestyle transformation?

Jason – I have always had weight problems, but from the late 1990’s to 2006 I was in the best shape of my life thanks to going to the gym every day. When we started our family in 2007, the trips to the gym quickly took a backseat to being a parent and my weight quickly climbed and plateaued with very little variation for the next 5 years. I have always tried to eat healthy and have kept a food journal for close to 10 years but that did not get me to my goal weight. As a father of two young children, it bothered me to be overweight, but I did nothing to change my status; rather I was falling prey to the last minute bad food decisions. One day my wife came home from a soccer game and told me we were signing up for Inspire Fitness’ Biggest Winner Contest……..

Amanda -

Sitting at my daughter’s soccer game last fall, I casually mentioned to another mom that I had just started another diet in hopes of losing some of the extra weight I had gained over the past few years. In fact, it was at least the 12th time that I tried starting a diet this year. Well it just so happened that this particular mom was an INSPIRE FITNESS client who described her previous success with the program and mentioned that INSPIRE FITNESS was holding a Biggest Winner contest. I agreed that it would be a good option for me although I was very apprehensive since I hadn’t taken a class at a gym in about 25 years and felt very self-conscious. While driving home I thought about the struggles I’ve had with weight since childhood, the numerous attempts of trying to lose weight, my failure to add any regular exercise to my life, and what my health and quality of life would be like in 10 to 30 years if I didn’t make a lifestyle change. I also wanted to be able to go hiking and participate in physical activities with my kids without getting out of breath or aching all over. By the time I got home, I was committed to making a lifestyle transformation and the only thing left to do was to convince my husband Jason to join me on my journey.

How did Inspire Fitness help you achieve your goal and how have the results affected your life?

INSPIRE FITNESS not only provides excellent workouts, but Brian, Cathie and the entire INSPIRE FITNESS family motivate us to keep coming back each day. While both of us have utilized diet plans in the past, INSPIRE FITNESS’ program has by far been the most effective in helping us to establish a regular routine that includes daily exercise and healthy eating. Even when there is a room full of people at 5:15 a.m., Brian and Cathie always manage to provide individual attention and support to their clients. Whether it is following-up on individual weight loss results, emailing us to see how we are feeling, coaching us on the correct techniques or weights to use to reduce injury and maximize our workout, or sending us healthy and tasty recipes, Brian and Cathie are always full of energy and new challenges. No two boot camp workouts are ever the same and challenge us in different ways; there is no chance of boredom here! Our personal favorites are prayer circles, three quarter squats, and tire step-ups. In addition, Inspire Fitness fosters a supportive and safe environment where everyone shares recipes and where to find the best local deals on healthy food. Any fears that I (Amanda) had about going to the gym were quickly alleviated by the supportive environment that INSPIRE FITNESS offers.

Aside from the typical effects of losing weight like feeling/ looking better, clothes fitting, we have never been healthier or more focused on our health. In our everyday life we have less stress.

I (Jason) find that if I do the 5:15am boot camp I feel energized throughout the day and if I do the 6:30pm boot camp it relaxes me while it provides both of us more energy and stamina at all times.

I (Amanda) find that I can sleep better as a result of less stress and improved circulation. I no longer wake up in the middle of the night unable to sleep and wanting a snack. This whole journey has done many things for us individually as well as a family. We do more physical activities with our kids and the walk around our block that has large steep hills no longer leaves us winded. We have turned our weekly food prep into a family project that our kids look forward to and enjoy. Our 3 year old son is in charge of making our Steel Cut Oatmeal and 1 ingredient (banana) ice cream for the week.

Describe Inspire Fitness in one word.

Exhilarating

With the spring and swimsuit season quickly approaching, we are receiving many questions on weight loss and tightening up those bodies. The topic of weight loss is a very simple one, but unfortunately many over complicate the process which leads most to failure.

To begin, YES, the swimsuit season is quickly approaching and to get your best results we must set some serious goals and make a plan. To start, we would like to discuss a component of weight loss that is overlooked and not taken serious when weight loss is the goal, which is sleep. Those who get the proper amount of sleep, the success rate of achieving a healthy and fit body increases dramatically. In the athletic world, sleep has been called the ‘athlete’s steroid’.

Most adults need 7-8 hours of healthy sleep per night and children need 9-11 hours.

Research has indicated that poor or lack of sleep will increase signals to the brain to eat and decrease signals to the brain that you have eaten enough. The guilty hormone is cortisol, which increases your appetite for high fat ‘comfort’ foods.

Most believe that people who sleep less have more time to exercise and improve their health. The reality is that lack of sleep has been connected to an increased risk of being overweight or obese.

So why is sleep so important? During sleep, our bodies release human growth hormone, which creates the healing and growth of muscle and bone, which is why it gets the name ‘athlete’s steroid.’ Proper sleep improves cognitive function, reaction time, and hand-eye coordination. The dramatic affect it has is it increases you recovery time from workouts which will give you the opportunity to be prepared for your next workout. Not to mention the improvement in your daily productivity, concentration, energy and mood.

If achieving your best beach body is your goal or just improving your overall health, sleep is a must.

Tips to help get better sleep….

•Limit caffeine in late afternoon and night
•Limit alcohol
•Don’t use computer or cell phone one hour prior to bed
•Lower temperature in the bedroom
•Use a sleep journal to track hours of sleep

Good luck on your journey to achieving your health and fitness goals. Please feel free to share this article or contact us at www.inspirefitnessnj.com.
What inspired you to begin your lifestyle transformation?

For the past 3 ½ years, I was walking 4 miles a day, 5 days a week. During the last 18 months, I was noticing that I was barely maintaining my weight. In fact, the reality was… I was gaining weight. So I knew I had to do something MORE but didn’t know what! Then one evening over the summer, my husband & I got together with some friends we hadn’t seen in awhile. One of them was Jeanne Daubner. All I can say is …WOW… what a transformation. I asked her what she was doing. She started talking about this place called INSPIRE Fitness, boot camps, 5:15am workouts. From that evening on, I kept thinking about what Jeanne had said about her fitness program. Being in a bathing suit this summer was so uncomfortable. I had never been at this weight. I was physically miserable. Jeanne’s words kept running through my head over and over again. Then Jeanne called to say she was looking to put a team together for a weight loss challenge at INSPIRE Fitness and she knew I was looking for a change in my exercise routine. THIS was it… THIS was my answer to lose some weight and change my exercise routine. So on September 27, 2012, I weighed in for the weight loss challenge and have never looked back.

How did Inspire Fitness help you achieve your goal and how have the results affected your life?

The boot camps, nutritional meetings, learning the importance of journaling and weighing/measuring what I ate, inspirational newsletters & videos, great recipes…these are some of the ways INSPIRE Fitness has helped me reach my goal of losing weight and physically feeling better; but besides the nutritional and physical aspects, Brian and Cathie have help me mentally. They talk about consistency, patience, and setting goals. They’ve taught me that fitness isn’t just about the physical…exercise, losing weight, the dreaded “scale.” It’s also about nutrition, who you surround yourself with, staying positive, asking yourself “Why.” Brian and Cathie’s amazing knowledge, support, and motivation have proven to me that ALL this works. It’s really pretty simple! I look better, feel better, and eat better. I have a more positive attitude (and the funny thing is… I’m already a pretty positive person). It’s a pleasure to walk into a boot camp workout and to truly see all the smiles from the other people in the classes…the positive attitude is contagious. I’ve set goals and reached them and then set more goals. There’s no question in my mind that because of what I’ve learned at INSPIRE Fitness, I’ve lost over 20 lbs and my life is forever changed.
